Common Conditions We Treat

young woman modern office back painAt Absolute Wellness, we’re steadfastly committed to providing high-quality chiropractic care to patients across the spectrum.

While natural chiropractic care can address many conditions, here are some of the most common ones Dr. Kelch sees at the practice:

Low Back Pain

Our approach to treating low back pain focuses on relieving the pressure on the nerve causing the pain. Besides chiropractic adjustments, we also provide patients with lifestyle change recommendations and homework exercises to help promote healing.

Initially, when the pain is acute, we advise patients to use ice and heat therapy before progressing to stretching exercises later in their care. By providing them with home stretches and strengthening exercises, we empower patients to take an active role in their recovery, working together as a team rather than relying solely on adjustments.

We use various techniques tailored to each patient’s needs and comfort. This includes using tools such as the Arthrostim, a vibration tool that aids in adjustments, and Thompson drop tables to reduce force. We also employ the Diversified Technique based on the patient’s requirements, always ensuring they are comfortable throughout the process.

Digestive Issues

Many patients seek our help for various digestive issues, often unaware of the gut health and spine connection. Patients may experience chronic constipation or diarrhea without any back pain. We use chiropractic adjustments to ease pressure on the nerves that control the gut; doing so helps improve the function of the organs and tissues in that area.

Posture and spinal alignment also play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy digestive system. The combination of sedentary lifestyles and poor posture can lead to a decreased lumbar curve, which puts pressure on the nerves that affect the gut. Our bodies are designed to move, and regular movement, such as walking, helps stimulate food movement through the digestive system.

There’s no question that our systems suffer when we lack physical activity. By addressing both spinal health and lifestyle habits, we can provide hope and personalized treatment plans for patients struggling with digestive issues.

Headaches

Given the considerable mental stress people experience each day and poor posture due to sitting in front of screens for lengthy periods, it’s not surprising that tension headaches and migraines result. One of our chiropractic care objectives is restoring proper lower back and neck curvature.

The time looking downward at digital devices for many hours a day can also lead to misalignments in the vertebrae, particularly in the C1 and C2 areas at the base of the skull. Using different techniques, such as manual adjustments, adjustment tables, or tools like the Arthrostim, allows us to target these problem areas effectively.

It’s important to note that chiropractic care offers a drug-free and natural approach to managing chronic headaches. Unlike medications that may only mask symptoms, our goal is to address the root issues causing the headaches. We have seen significant improvements in our patients’ conditions by eliminating misalignments and working with soft tissues.

Sciatica

Sciatica is characterized by pain and can manifest as numbness and tingling. To address this type of discomfort, target the specific nerves responsible for these symptoms, whether it’s in the lower back (L2, L3, L4, L5) or the pelvis.

Early symptoms of sciatica include generalized lower back pain, not just pain radiating down the leg. If you experience any tingling sensations or muscle weakness, it’s crucial to seek care promptly.

At our clinic, we use a range of chiropractic techniques, such as low back adjustments and the use of tools like drop tables and decompression therapy if necessary. Our approach prioritizes chiropractic care as the first line of treatment, especially for patients who sought chiropractic care elsewhere without getting good results.

We also recommend specific exercises and stretches that complement chiropractic treatment for sciatica for enhanced effectiveness. These include hamstring stretches, lower back rotational movements, and the piriformis stretch, which targets the muscles in the buttocks that can contribute to compression of the sciatic nerve.
